Booked another hunt back to Brady Ranch
« on: September 27, 2006, 07:46:14 AM »
Well we just booked another hunt to Brady Ranch for May 11th 2007. I will be going for Axis deer and my buddy will be doing the same. My son is going for a Corsican Ram.

I booked early this time, they told me the best time to get the big boys are April & May. There prices have gone up this year but still the best deal out there for Axis deer.  Last year we went at the end of August and there were still some goods one to be found.  ;D

:) Readhawk, when you go for axis, what caliber do you use. We used to go to Tx. in the 90's and shot a bunc of Axis. Some for a couple hundred bucks, not huge ones, but nice. :D Those days I guess are gone forever :'( What do the axis go for on the Brady??? Have fun.

My son used his 243 last year, I will be using my Encore in 7mm08. The price is $1750.00 but you get a package deal of $2100.00 for lodging and meals and guide.

;) Thanks. I didn't realize this was in Fl. I did most of my hunting in Tx. I guess the prices are comparable. I think we will return to tx. for some hogs and other exotics. These hunts to Canada and  Alaska are insane :P A guy can have alot of fun for not too much $ at some of the exotic places. We still will check on cull axis prices when I call Tx. : ::)

Yes they do.  But I think it went up from $1200 to $1500.

My hunt was canceled to Brady ranch for May. My buddy is unable to make it at that time, but were are looking for a different hunt when the outdoor show comes to Harrisburg in PA.

Doug, I sure will be glad when August gets here and you post up photos of your hunt. It is getting very quiet on this board. I have been wanting to go on another Axis hunt, but I'm saving up for a African plains game hunt.

Y'know...you're right.  Though I'm hav'n a virtual hunting disaster this summer.  I had to cancel brady due to cost (my oldest will be beginning her 2nd year of College and I have to kick in a bit more than predicted, so, just another trip to Wild Hill in VT for me on September 6).

Also, my brother in law and I have been planning a brown bear/moose hunt in Alaska for 10 years (going when we turn 50 next year).  Found an outfitter that charges $6,500 for 10 days in a tented camp.  Put in for 15 days off and my boss balked as did my wife.  Problem is, I live on the east coast and if something should happen......  Also, daughter #2 will be starting College as well....so...something more tame will have to do.  I think I'll book into a September black bear hunt in northern Maine.

Family first.

I understand college expenses. We have one going to UC Santa Barbara. I have been saving for a while for the Africa trip. I had to postpone it from 2007 to 2008 because I got on a deer lease and had expenses getting setup there. The good part about postponing it is that my wife accumulated more air miles and hopefully we can go business class now (it's a looooong flight).

We are just about out of Axis, Fallow, and Blackbuck meat so I'm hoping I can justify at least a doe hunt.  :)

Brady Ranch pricing jumped 20% or more since 2004.  I spent half day with Frank Brady Jr. driving around the ranch in a vehicle best described as "elevated".  I wasn't hunting, just enjoying the many animals and the unique-to-me landscape. I observed well over 150 axis deer.

Of course, Frank dearly wanted to sell me a hunt but this was just a partial day getaway for me.  My wife and children were visiting Magic Kingdom.  I get claustrophobic in large crowds, no kidding. Disneyland and shopping malls cause panic attacks.

I'd love to return but my focus is elsewhere right now.
