Does anyone have/know anything about these revolvers.  I have a strange desire to get one just because they are a little different but don't really know anything about them.  Any info would be appreciated

I have two- a matched set of stainless .45 Colts purchased when Ruger told me repeatedly, "We are not likely to ever make a stainless .45 Blackhawk". As you might guess, this was some years back. Finely made gun, later ones made right here in Virginia with the state motto on the butt of the grip. Very solid, and good shooters, although they run bigger than Colts, maybe slightly even bigger than Blackhawks. They are still pretty reasonably priced (usually); I think you'll like it if you try one.

Where are you at in Virginia?  I'm from Dublin originally but live in Charlotte NC now.  I've been trying to find a stainless one with the VA motto on it, but the ones I see on the auction sites are a bit overpriced I think.  Do you know where any are for sale?

Hello, Blair. I don't know of any available for sale at the moment. They used to show up in the Gunlist classifieds fairly often, but I haven't taken that one for several years now. I think the Gunlist ads can be found online now, though. The few I've seen at the occasional gun show I visit have been $300 or less, but I'm not sure which ones or how many have the VA motto. I've seen some with another inscription on the butt, but can't recall what it is right now. Anyone know what it was, and why some are marked differently? Not sure if the Hammerlis were inscribed at all?

(I live at the edge of Floyd and Montgomery counties. I normally work as a medic/ firefighter in Roanoke County, but work my days off in carpentry and construction. Just finished a day's trim work in a house right behind Dublin middle school. Small world!)

Good luck in your search!

Fine gun for sure. I gave $290 for the near new stainless one shown below with some amigos. It's chamber, throat and groove dimensions are perfect, trigger is crisp and 2 1/2#, lockup is near FA tight and CTB alignment is dead on as well. I say gran 'em when you see 'em, they will dry up in the not too distant future.

now this is a small world, I own 125 acres of hunting land with some friends in Indian Valley.  Last time I was up there we were picking raspberrys from a huge patch in a power line and a HUGE black bear came out, guess he wanted to know what was eating his berries.

I had a blued version years ago, as in the late 80's, and spent more time trying to find a load it would shoot than any gun I have ever owned. I even went to a gunsmith and had it drilled and tapped for a scope. I couldn't get it to group with any load or factory ammo I could find. Frustrated, I traded it off for something else. Its a tough well made gun, mine just wouldn't shoot.

I have had this since the 70's, along with Bianchi special made rig. This one came in her box as well. Shoots just fine for me, and has taken 3 deer. -- This one, along with her box and leather can be had if there is an serious interest. JFYI. :)
