why wont my contender fire?

I sent this gun back to be reblued and Im still having trouble.Today I installed the ejector when it arrived and now it will not fire.I took the barrel back off and was looking at the frame and noticed that the hammer will not fall all the way down to contact the firing pin.Its about a 1/16 inch away.What is going on with this thing?

I think we need a little more info i.e, what caliber? Reblueing should have nothing to do with your problem.  Did it work before you had it reblued? And yes, you will see a gap because you have to release the hammer so it willl fall. More info please.

My guess, the ejector isn't seating back far enough. Get a straight edge and see if the ejector is flush with the chamber face.

 An early style Contender will not drop the hammer all the way if the saftey interlock isn't twisted out of the way by the locking lug on the barrel. A bbl. needs to be locked in the frame before the hammer will fully drop.
 If it worked without the ejector, something must be wrong with it.
 Do you have one of the rare ejectors, or is it an extractor?
