What is the actual bore diameter of the 38-55 target rifle

Some tell me .377 and others say up to .383 so what bullet shoots the best by your experience? ??? I'm new to NEF rifles and the 38-55 caliber.

My .38-55 bore slugs .381.

I had my chamber opened up so I could use .381-.383 bullets and that's what I use.

Welcome to GBO!! The only way to know what your 38-55's bore size is, would be to slug it as others have done. Lots of posts on the 38-55, the search function doesn't work well, but using the members list then searching by name is the only way to find posts IF the poster's name is known. Here's JPH45's and Cheatermk3's posts, scroll thru em until you find applicable 38-55 posts, that's the best I can do for ya, they are well versed in the idiosyncrasies of loading for the 38-55 which suffers from an oversize bore and undersize chamber neck. :(

I had my hands on one of these today!! $ 329.99 was the asking price.....I have a Marlin Cowboy in this caliber now and I don't shoot that one!!! I have a pile of brass and bullets for it as well, if I sold the Marlin and all the stuff, I would take a beating...if I only sold the rifle and saved the loading stuff for the Handi....Humm.....

I have been toying' with the idea of selling the Marlin and picking up one of these......I don't know...it was very nice!!

CW LONGSHOT==========You would love the rifle. I fell In love with the way it feels and handles. The DOC I shoot with gets 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards and 2 1/2 inch at 300 using a mill dot scope.
