TC Prohunter Bases and Rings
« on: September 30, 2006, 06:11:56 PM »
I just purchased a new Prohunter. I would like to also purchase a good set of rings and base for it. I have always used Burris Signature rings and bases on my other rifles. The salesman at Sportsman Warehouse recommended using the base intended for the TC Contender..He said that you would eliminate the slight gap between the barrel and base at the point where the barrel tapers , which is seen when using a base specifically designed for the encore. Does anyone know if there is any merit to this statement? Which base and ring combination are the best to use for this rifle. Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!

I use and recommend the Warne bases and rings.  On tapered barrels you will get a little gap, but it will not affect your accuracy.
If  you're going to make a hole, make it a big one.

+1 on Redhawk1's recommendation.  You cannot beat Warne solid steel bases and rings for the Pro Hunter.  Talley and the rest do not measure up.
