Just about any of the County, State or Federal Forests north of 44 degrees could have either feral or German/Russian hogs. German hogs have been spotted in the Eau Claire and Clark County Forests and there are hogs moving south out of the UP of Michigan into the Nicolet National Forest and various County Forests in Northeastern Wisconsin. The DNR is sure that the German/Russians are being illegally transplanted in many of these areas. The ones coming from the UP are generally thought to be escapees from the area around Bear Mountain. Feral pigs (domesticated pigs that escape to the wild) have been around for a long time, but are usually dealt with in a hurry as they can multiply like rabbits and dig up crops and woodlands.
