11 Hogs and a funny story

Well I'm gonna post this before Digger beats me to it. He was out walk/stalking for hogs yesterday evening and found a pack across the slough from where we hunt. Soooooo, he comes up with this great idea for me and him for this evening. So at about dusk this evening there we sat.......him with his CZ .204 and me with my Ruger 220 Swift......yep prarie dog rigs. We were all set up too, tables, bi-pods, shooting rests, the whole nine yards. Here come the hogs at about 400-600 yards in the grass just enough to prevent a good head shot. One did come down to the water's edge but he was at least 500yd. and more like 625-650yd. But it was fun to watch for about 15 minutes before we lost all light in our scopes. There was one pack of 5 and another of about 4 or 5 and a couple stragglers running in and out of the two packs. The funny part is we could have driven to within 200 yards of 'em and sat in the timber line with our 445 SupMags and probably each gotten one. Oh well, we'd rather prairie-Hog hunt I guess.

 Besides The hog meat from Dano is a lot taster than wild hogs

Well we're going back this eve.and what do you want to bet that they'll come out in the place we were sitting yesterday!!!! and we''ll be in the place they were at.It sure was a sight though 11 big hogs 420 yds. across the water,but in to tall grass for a good shot with the little bullets.If my son had been there it would have been easy for his 300 Ultra mag.(He shoots 400 yds at his house).
The only thing that bother's me is that the trees are not very big over on that part and I don't think they'll hold Lik2hunt up.    Digger

lik2hunt--- get that 357 max out and let it shine on em. If  Digger is going to take em with a 204 you sureley can with the 357. Go and show him up.

It would sure get the job done, but not at 400 yards I'm afaraid. It's shooting great at 100 tho. Might just bloody it this season.

Well,Lik2hunt did'nt go this evening and sure enough as soon as I set down 3 hogs come out.I lined up on 2 to try and get 2 at once but only got 1. I set there till nearly dark,and started walking out to the truck,and the very same spot that Lik2hunt and I had set the eve. before had 5 more hogs at it.The old Colt Coltsman rifle that I carry sometimes,spoke 3 times this eve.and 3 hogs were hit. I think lady luck just follows Lik2hunt around and gives him all the bad luck she has.   Digger
