Green Mountain T/C Replacement Barrels/Sad News
« on: October 03, 2006, 02:49:50 AM »
i was ordering spme stuff on Track of the Wolf and was also ordering a GM T/C .32 caplock barrel for my Renegade. I knoticed many of the barrels have been discontinued by TOTW, including mine after they are sold out. I alos wanted the .62 smoothbore, but it was discontinued. So, I aksed them what is the deal and they said GM is discontinuing most of the replacement barrels that they make for T/C guns. If you want something special, you better hurry as once they are gone, that is it :( I think I will order the .58 for my Renegade before it is too late. Jack.

I appreciate the lead!! The biggest thing is GM is discontinueing 75% of the muzzleloader barrels they make. Wonder why that is? Jack.

Seeing this I called GM this morning and talked to Kerri whom I've dealt with for a few years now, and she said that's overstating what actually is happening...said the TC drop in barrel business is a good one which they continue to keep going, not discontinuing it as such.

What they have been doing is a sales analysis that's led them to decide on dropping certain barrels in their normal barrel line inventory as they are not selling enough to justify it...like the series of stainless fast twist barrels, some smoothbores, and Flint will only be offered in the .50cal...for example, their website has carried a clearance sale special on stainless fast twist barrels for a couple years now trying to move them out as nobody was buying them.

I have no reason to suspect she was giving me a party line or anything...just sounds like they're trimming back on what doesn't sell...but I also agree with the other post...if you've been wanting a .54/.28ga or a .62/.20ga dropin smoothbore, I'd get them now as it does look like those smoothbores will be dropped from the normal barrel line...I bought a pair of Flint .54/.28ga smoothbores last year, and a pair of Flint .62cal smoothbores this year...have them in Hawken stocks...outstanding barrels for deer, turkey, squirrels, rabbits, etc

(Claims that 1:48" twists won't shoot PRBs accurately are old wives tales!!)

Thanks for that info Roundball!! I will think about picking up a couple of more barrels. The boggest shame is the .62/20 gauge smoothbore, great all purpose barrel. I would like that one and the .58   Jack.

I just ordered the LAST 1" stainless steel with 1-28 twist to leave the factory.  I am not sure what I am going to do with it yet.   Ron
