The gentleman seen in these pics ran the Alamo Ironworks machine shop in San Antonio. Pics taken around 1990. In my family he was always called PeeWee. I don't think I ever heard what his real name was. He never went to college and yet the knowledge he gained in the shop was such that he taught metallurgy classes at St. Mary's University in SA. (who ever does something like that?) I'm in the grey Tee shirt.
I've seen this cannon lobe 48oz grapefruit juice can's full of concrete over a mile. About 50 yards out the barrel the can would peel open and part company with the concrete like shot shell wadding. The small cannon was a gift from him that's been my pride and joy. Just as much fun to shoot now as the day I got it!
